FCVC DEI & Well-Being Committee
About the Frankel CVC Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Well-Being Committee
The FCVC Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Well-being Steering Committee is a group that aims to educate and lead the FCVC staff, faculty, students, and patients/families on issues concerning diversity, equity, inclusion, and well-being. The Steering Committee was established to design and implement innovative and practical ways to engage and emphasize inclusivity across the FCVC.
We have also partnered with other groups across campus with a similar mission including the Office of Patient Experience and the Office of Health, Equity and Inclusion . Representatives of these areas attend our meetings and we are in regular communication to maximize our collective efforts.
Our Goals:
Diversity: We commit to increasing diversity, which is expressed in myriad forms, including race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, language, culture, national origin, religious commitments, age, (dis)ability status, and political perspective.
Equity: We commit to working actively to challenge and respond to bias, harassment, and discrimination. We are committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all persons and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, religion, height, weight, or veteran status.
Inclusion: We commit to pursuing deliberate efforts to ensure that our campus is a place where differences are welcomed, different perspectives are respectfully heard and where every individual feels a sense of belonging and inclusion. We know that by building a critical mass of diverse groups on campus and creating a vibrant climate of inclusiveness, we can more effectively leverage the resources of diversity to advance our collective capabilities.
Well-being: We commit to communicate, motivate, and support the employees of the Frankel Cardiovascular Center by promoting values that support a well-rounded employee and an environment built upon mutual respect. We know that fostering meaningful and impactful work will enable employees to feel appreciated and recognized within their work and outside lives with three areas of focus – Individual, Interpersonal, Organizational - that align with the Michigan Medicine Wellness Office.
